Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week

It seems like every month there is a major charity drive by one of the large charities, and this week it is the turn of Christian Aid. Christian Aid of one of the charities we support, not because they are Christian - in fact they have nothing to do with missionary work - but because they believe in sustainable development and the kind of fair trade that actually means something.

Of every pound given, Christian Aid only spend 2p on admin and 19p on fundraising! The rest goes on the projects, 52p of which is for long-term development projects - e.g. helping people to help themselves, 11p for emergency responses - e.g. responding to famine in Ethiopia or the Tsunami in Asia. The remainder is spent on campaigning and education, a vital area that makes an enormous difference in the lives of people around the world.

Their website is open to donations, so however little go help out - and remember if you are a UK taxpayer to click the Gift Aid declaration form (it adds 30% to your donation)!
